Hey internet!
Today anti-protest ordinances were passed here. So if you wanted to gather on the sidewalk with a group of people with signs without getting a permit from the city, you should probably do it in the next ten days before they go into effect (unless you want to be arrested and issued exorbitant fines.)
Today was also my first day of classes. I love the beginning because my classes seem interesting...

I just totally went off on my roommate
And kind of started crying.
Today while I was on my bike a cop yelled at me from inside his car as he was going by that ‘I couldn’t honestly think that was a proper way to operate a bike.’ And the thing is, I was not doing anything law-breaking or unsafe that would in any way put citizens [or their property, hey capitalism] at risk. The motherfucker was mad that I had the nerve...

Feminist moment of the day
Today, for the first time in my life, a boy I had not previously met gave me his number and told me we should have coffee sometime. (Yes, I’m pathetic, let’s move on.)
I wanted to highlight that this event has happened at a point in my life after:
I stopped wearing make-up
I stopped shaving
I gained back most of the weight I had recently lost
I cut my hair short and tie it back...

I feel like I have so much to do this week I literally don’t have time for it all. I know it’s hard to believe (in fact I myself find it hard to believe) but I have all my final projects/papers on top of regular schoolwork, volunteer work which is usually 10-15 hours a week, work work which is also 10-15 hours, and like 4 activism-related meeting to attend (3 of which I have to prepare...

Davis Is Executed in Georgia →
“His conviction came after testimony by some witnesses who later recanted and on the scantest of physical evidence…”
My roommate went to a vigil earlier, and apparently 7 of the 9 original witnesses recanted. One of the two who didn’t recant is the most likely suspect after Davis.
EDIT: here’s the better BBC article

I SO want to preorder the new Transit record
But I really can’t spend money on non-necessities right now.
WHY DID I PICK THE MOST EXPENSIVE COLLEGE MAJOR EVER ARGH.
A life update of sorts
I start school tomorrow, which I’m not really excited about but it’s better than work. On that note since it’s no longer summer we close two hours earlier, so I am REALLY happy about that. I started this photo project when I moved into this apartment where I take a picture of the same place everyday, and so far except when I have been away (in Greece and whatnot) I haven’t...

Today is my last day in Greece
It probably would have been smart of me to have written things while I was here, but oh well. I came on a birth-right-ish program for Greek American college students, so that we are able to carry on “Greek heritage.” If that means coming home with intent to make Dakos all the time, a desire to add to the little Greek I learned, and the ability to do the easiest type of Greek dance,...

I'm going to a house party tonight
I’ve never been to a house party. I can’t lie, I’m a little scared. They are usually less crazy when it’s all legal adults, right?…

I am awful at shooting, processing, printing, and spotting. However, I am halfway decent at measuring and cutting mats.
Moral of the story: If you ever need some mats cut, hit me up.
Fitzy I beast at spotting and processing but suck ass at measuring and cutting mats. Wanna switch?
Great idea! Next year we need to somehow pool our abilities…

Not that any of you probably care,
But a robbery/homicide occured today in a convenience store right next to the Camera store I go to. It’s in the middle of Downtown Chicago by the way, and it happened in the morning-not morning like 1 AM, like 8 AM people going to work and school morning. Needless to say it’s going to be pretty strange to walk by a place someone recently died to buy film now.

I wish I wasn't so sensitive.
Reading, hearing, or seeing prejudiced things bums me out so hard. It LITERALLY ruins my day. I read an incredibly sexist article several hours ago and feel even worse after mulling it over. I feel like everyone I know is able to just let things like this go, but I never forget stuff that bothers me. Sometimes I feel like the only person who notices/acknowledges what a fucked-up place this world...
